Jack Eichel entered Sundays game in Pittsburgh on a career-best nine-game point streak (2G, 10A). It was the longest the longest by a Buffalo Sabre since Tim Connolly tallied points in 16 straight from December 23, 2009 to January 25, 2010.
Then, Eichel scored this beauty against Matt Murray. It was Eichel's 16th goal of the season.
In the time since his November 29 return from the high ankle sprain that parked him in the press box for 21 games, Eichel ranks 14th among all NHL skaters with 42 points (16G, 26A) and leads the league with 180 shots on goal and counting.
With his goal against Pittsburgh on Sunday, Eichel now passes Jamie Benn for most points since the beginning of February (21) and leads all NHL players with 17 assists during that time period.
Eichel has logged 27 points (8G, 19A) in his last 24 games, including eight multi-point outings during that stretch. The Sabres are 11-1-0 this season (and 20-4-0 in his career) when he has at least two points.
Eichel’s .95 points per game this season ranked him 14th among all players with at least 20 games played this season as of the end of last night’s game.
Eichel is now the sixth player to get to 40 goals scored with the Buffalo Sabres before age 21-.
Eichel now joins Pierre Turgeon, Phil Housley, Dave Andreychuk, Rick Martin, and Gilbert Perreault.
Eichel is also the 10th US-born player to score 40 goals in the NHL before turning 21. Eichel is the 1st to do it since Patrick Kane on February 21, 2009.

The super sophomore now has an active 10-game consecutive point streak. It's the longest active point streak in the NHL right now.
