The Anaheim Ducks are a hurting unit right about now. Veteran power forward Corey Perry is now out “week-to-week” with a lower-body injury suffered Monday night.

The Ducks enter Tuesday night's action on 11th place in the Western Conference and are 3-3-4 in their past ten games. Vancouver, Colorado and Edmonton are inches away from catching and passing over the Ducks in the standings.

The Ducks lead all NHL teams in man games lost to injury with 185 and counting. the Perry injury will no doubt increase their man game lost to injury.

Perry is the leading scorer for the Ducks with 6 goals and 16 assists in 30 games played this season. Perry is averaging 17:38 TOI.

Perry is a hard act to follow. Last season, he played all 82 games for the Ducks scoring 19 goals, 34 assists and 76 PIMs. In 17 playoff games last spring, Perry scored 4 goals and 11
assists.

Perry is the lastest victim in Anaheim's bizarre game of "injury roulette".

Ryan Kesler is still recovering from offseason surgery. Ryan Getzlaf just returned from a long term injury. Getzlaf missed 23 games due to injury causing Randy Carlyle to play bottom six pivot Derek Grant as his top line center.

Sami Vatanen (now with Devils), Rickard Rakell, Hampus Lindholm, Cam Fowler, Ondrej Kase, Patrick Eaves and several other key contributors have all missed multiple games this season.

Thankfully, Ducks GM Bob Murray traded Vatanen for scoring forward Adam Henrique. In six games played with the Ducks followling the trade, Henrique has scored 3 goals and 3 assists. Henrique will be asked to contribute more offense in Perry's absence. Does he have more to give?

The loss of Perry will deal a serious blwo to Anaheim's even strength and PP scoring. Bob Murray has cap space and may have to trade defenseman Josh Manson and top forward prospect Max Jones in order to secure a top six scoring forward who can inject immediate scoring at 5v5 and on the PP.

Yes, the Ducks have scouted the Buffalo Sabres this season and last.

Bob Murray trading for Evander Kane in Anaheim certainly would tilt the current axis of power in the West. Kane is being sought after by several Western clubs including Vancouver, St. Louis, San Jose, Calgary, Los Angeles and Calgary.

Jason Botterill will listen to serious offers on Evander Kane.
