Updated 12:10pm:

The Sabres are back at the practice rink today.

Not surprisingly, Thomas Vanek isn't practicing today after he took a Christin Ehrhoff luger bullet off the lower body (hip) while #26 was getting filthy in the face of Carey Price on a Buffalo PP. Vanek would limp to the bench and eventually hopped hjis way down the gang plank to the Buffalo room, accompanied by the team trainer Tim Macre.

Ron Rolston said after the Montreal OT win that Vanek's status is "day to day".

Vanek was bumped down to the second line with Ennis and Leino in Montreal. The move helped Steve Ott to score one goal while running with Hodgson and Pominville. Ott would later score the OT GWG on th PP.

Will the Sabres ' leading scorer be ready to play vs. Toronto on Thursday night?

*fingers crossed*

Would you welcome Derek Roy back to the Sabres?

It just may happen.

Roy will become a UFA this July. Roy is in the final year of his 6 year, $24 million contract that he signed in Buffalo many moons ago.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Roy contract extension talks havent begun yet between his agent and Stars GM, Joe Nieuwendyk.

Roy was traded to Dallas last July in exchange for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy.

Roy and Lindy Ruff didn't see eye to eye, hence, the centre was dealt last Summer.

Since Ruff is gone, wouldn't it make sense to bring Roy in to add veteran depth tpo the centre ranks?

If Steve Ott's game was a fashion designer, it wouldn't be charaterized as Hugo Boss, Cannali or Ralph Lauren.

Ott's game ain't pretty. Its just filthy, nasty and ultra effective.

Its ragged, weathered, gently-used, broken in, stitched, stained, and straight up hellified.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis fit Ott's game to a tee:

Thrift store chic.

Otter's gonna pop some tags.

He's got twenny dollahs in his pocket......

Thanks, sabres.com

All the cool kids in Buffalo are flushing the pretty boy fashion. They are now repping Otter's thrift store chic.

Otter rocked the faux like a champ on Tuesday night in Montreal.

Is that your grandpa's jacket?

On Tuesday night in a hostile fashion house in Montreal, the heart and soul of the Sabres threw his teammates on his back, like a bag of hand-me-downs and he lugged them to a desperately needed road victory.

Ott scored the first and last goals of the game, as if to proclaim: 'Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole, bitches".

PK Subban deserves a pat on the back for committing his stupid and selfish penalty just 17 second into overtime. Subban tried to wreck Mark Pysyk with a careless attempted hip check. His body shot didn't land and PK was sent to the box for high sticking.

To see Subban's protestation of the penalty, you would think that he was the victim of a bad penalty call.

After the loss, agitated Montreal coach, Michel Therrien, reacted to Subban's dumb penalty like this:

“It was a bad penalty, especially with the effort the guys had in the second and third periods,” said Therrien. “We’re going to take care of that so that it doesn’t happen again.”

Opportunity knocked. Steve Ott and the Sabres answered.

The Buffalo PP jumped onto the ice and the collective sighs from Buffalo were heard round the hockey world. There the game was for the taking. A delicious 4 on 3 PP opportunity, just like the one that Ottawa used to sink Buffalo last Saturday.

With one second left in the critical PP, Steve Ott scored the OT GWG.

Just the way Ron Rolston drew it up on the dry erase board.

Ott got the scoring started in the first period with his fourth goal of the season. Tyler Myers also scored and Jhonas Enroth made 32 saves, including 24 over the second and third period.

Tyler Ennis made it 2-0 Sabres when he re-directed a Tyler Myers point shot.

The Sabres (11-15-4) earned their second win in eight games (2-3-3).
