Darcy Regier will leave Montreal with a beer wagon full of Clydesdales, and thats ok by him.

The Sabres entered this draft three key attributes in mind: size, strength, and skill.

The Sabres have added

1 (13) Zack Kassian RW Peterborough Petes: 6'3 and 210

3 (66) Brayden McNabb D Kootenay Ice: 6'4 and 200

4 (104) Marcus Foligno LW Sudbury Wolves: 6/2 and 200

5 (134) Mark Adams D Malden Catholic High School: 6'1 and 187

6 (164) Connor Knapp G Miami University: 6'5 and 215

7 (194) Maxime Legault RW Shawingan Cataractes: 6'2 and 195

Mind you, these boys are not men yet. They will grow and they will pack on muscle.

A great haul, if you ask me. These kids will be groomed to compete like pros, and their runway to join the big club is 24 months, or less.

Can't you see Kassian, Foligno and Manari dominating in Portland in the near future?

Its now an arms race in the Adams Division, with Boston, Toronto, and Ottawa loading up on skilled big men, the Sabres read the play and joined the rush on big boys with finish and ferocity.

I absolutely LOVE the Marcus Foligno pick. Call me a Mike Foligno honk if you want. He's in my personal; top 5 Sabres of all time, along with Gilbert Perrault, Larry Playfair, Brad May, and Patty LaFontainne. I loved the old man's pugnacity and intestinal fortitude; I've grown to admire young Nick's game; a couple of NHL and OHL scouts that I speak with tell me the Marcus is a great kid with a tremendous compete level. He's my kind of player because he sells out everytime he's on the ice.

Tim Kennedy, Patty Kaleta, and Marcus Foligno are all Buffalo born boys. Gotta love the loyalty and respect that Darcy and his scouts are paying to the Western New York hockey community.
