Sports Illustrated asked 161 NHL players to name the most overrated player in hockey.
This list was not compiled by some scribe with an axe to grind. This is peers rating their peers.
You'll be shocked to find that Buffalo's Leino, Roy, Ehrhoff, and Miller are not on this list.
Some of their picks are whack, while others are bang on.
Here are the SI results:
15. Ed Jovonovski (Relevant 5 years ago)
14. Olli Jokinen (Most definitely agree)
13. Alexander Semin (Without question)
12. Jarome Iginla (Hell no! First ballot Hall Of Famer!)
11. Chris Pronger (Young Pronger was a beast. Young Pronger? Not so much)
10. Mike Komisarek (Most overrated)
9. Ryan Kesler ( Selke candidates are not overrated)
8. Jay Bouwmeester (Agree wholeheartedly)
7. Vinny Lecavalier (When healthy, a game changer)
6. Ilya Kovalchuk (Nyet! Alexei Yashin Part Deux)
5. Dany Heatley (Agreed)
4. Roberto Luongo (Im a Luongo fan. Not overrated in my book)
3. Scott Gomez (Dog!)
2. Alex Ovechkin (Slumping? Yes. Overrated? No)
#1 Neon Dion Phaneuf (Enjoying comeback season. How many Norris Trophies?)
Trade chatter lives and breathes 24/7/365 in Philly.
Today, one of their beat writers speculated that Toronto are thinking of sending D Luke Schenn to the Flyers. Presumably, the Flyers would send a top 6 forward.
Flyers director of pro player personnel, Don Luce, has been seen in Toronto scouting games lately. Thats what he does. I see Luce in the Buffalo barn almost every home game.
If Philly are serious about dealing Schenn, Tyler Myers wants him in Buffalo. 57 and Schenn are best friends and were D partners in Kelowna.
All of the Sabres are on the ice right now. That is, except Thomas Vanek.
Day #2 of food poisoning ?
Or, was HDTV injured on the first period hit by Dion Phaneuf?
The loos of Vanek's 19 goals was evident last night as the Sabres were shutout 2- by the Leafs. With Vanek in the lineup the Sabres have a puncher's chance of winning. Without him, they are lost. Pegulaville better hope that his problem is only a case of Montezuma's Revenge that he contracted at an upscale Toronto eatery.
@BillHoppeSabres reports that Luke Adam is riding the left wing for Hecht and Pommer at practice.
Derek Roy is skating, between Gerbe and Stafford, sans red pinney. He'll likely draw back in on Friday night vs. Toronto.
Christian Ehrhoff is skating, with red pinney.
Much more to come from Lindy Ruff after practice breaks up.....
