Dan Paille isn't the flashiest player in the NHL. Doesn't matter. His work ethic is second to none. I met Paille before he was a Stanley Cup Champion. Fresh out of junior, Paille was a hard working, no nonsense first round draft choice for the Buffalo Sabres.

Talent got Paille into the NHL. Hard work has kept him in the NHL.

I remember watching closely as Paille worked hard on all of the fundamentals at the Amherst Pepsi Center. Skating, shooting, back checking, shot blocking, holding pucks, wining walls. Paille does it all and he does it well.

Claude Julien trusted his guy and placed Paille with Seguin and Kelly. What a game they had.

On Saturday night in Game 2, Paille assisted on the Chris Kelly goal that tied the game at 1s in period two. He would score the OTGWG to send the series back to Boston tied 1-1.

Thanks, csnboston.com

I get ill when I think about how Paille was traded from Buffalo to Boston for a couple of rolls of tape.

If an NHL team wants to make a trade to pry the 1st overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft, it will take a literal gold mine in order to land the right to draft MacKinnon on Jones first overall.

CBCs Elliotte Friedman shocked me when he mentioned during the popular "After 40 Minutes" segment on HNIC that the Calgary Flames have offered their three first round picks in the June 30th draft. Friedge reported that Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic said thanks, but no thanks.

Thanks, CBC

The Flames are the owners of picks #6, #22, and #28.

I have two thoughts on the Calgary-Colorado conundrum:

1). I'm wondering if the Avs said no to the Flames because they are more interested in targeting a team with more early picks in the first round. For example, Buffalo owns #8 and #16. If Darcy Regier can pull off a deal with the Nashville Predators (#4), Carolina Hurricanes (#5), Calgary Flames (#6), or Edmonton Oilers (#7), then Buffalo would have 3 picks on the top 16 to use as currency to buy the first overall pick from Colorado.

2). Perhaps the Avs are still holding a grudge over Flames GM Jay Featser for the Ryan O'Reilly offer sheet. The Avs wasted little time matching the Flames offer sheet to O'Reilly. Perhaps Roy is holding out hope that Regier can successfully execute a trade with Nashville, Carolina, Calgary or Edmonton so that they can present three prime first rounders to the Avs as part of the package for the first overall pick.

We are 14 days away from the NHL Draft. I'm going to keep a close eye on the Sabres. Do they really want the 1st overall pick or are they just saying it to test the court of public opinion? They may be head faking all of us in their attempts to climb from the 8 and 16 spots. Perhaps their end-game is having two top 10 picks and the 16th overall pick, too.

Marian Hossa scored this clutch goal to give the Chicago Blackhawks a commanding 2-0 lead in Game 2. At the time, the Hawks were owning the Bruins while they were blitzing the road weary Bruins. The Hawks led the shot clock 1904 after 20 minutes. The second period was a carbon copy effort for the Hawks. Leading 1-0, Hossa scored. Then, the NHL disallowed the goal.

The CBC broadcast that I watched clearly showed the puck crossing the goal line before the referee McCauley blew the play dead. Terrible call, in my own humble opinion.

The no goal call gave the Bruins a bit of a reprieve from the onslaught that the Blackhawks were throwing at them. At one point, the shots on goal were 23-6 in period two, then, former Sabres foot soldier Dan Paille set up Chris Kelly for the critical game tying goal.

The NHL issued this statement immediately following the disallowed goal ruling.

At 12:32 of the first period in the Blackhawks/Bruins game, video review was initiated by the NHL Situation Room because the puck entered the Boston net. The referee had blown the play dead prior to Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa pushing the goaltender’s pads and the puck across the goal line. No goal Chicago.

Goal or no goal?

You make the call.
