Congratulations to Mario Lemieux and his Pittsburgh Penguins.

Game 7, in my opinion, was the best reality TV show that I have ever seen! WOW! I need a shower to wash away the perspiration that this one produced! . If you'd have told me at 8pm EDT Friday night that Sidney Crosby would be a casualty/injury by virtue of a Franzen sangwich on the wall early in the second period, and he would not be on the ice in crunch time, I may have told you that the Pens' hopes were dashed. Sid would leave the game and not return until teh 10 minute mark of the final period. Jordan Staal and his pens mates eate up Sid's ice and soldiered through the task at hand. Kudos to teh twenty year old Staal for manning up and playing hard as steel for 18 minutes for his team.

I called Pittsburgh in 7. I wasn't trying to pull a number out of my ass. I really felt down deep that the Guinos would be the last team standing due in part to their all world goaltender and their resilience. Take nothing away from Mike Babcock's Wings. They were DOMINANT in their barn in Games 1,2 and 5; they dropped Games 3 and 4 in Da Burgh. Home teams held serve in this one-- until Friday night in Detroit. Max Talbot and the Pens would not back down. They would not go quietly. The mark of a true champion.

I love Malkin's magic, however, were I given a Conn Smythe vote, I cast mine for Marc Andre Fleury. That save that he made on Hank Zetterberg with two seconds remaining in the second period was pure GOLD! even more breathtaking was his save on Nik Lidstrom with two seconds left in regulation with the tying puck on the future first ballot Hall Of Famer's twig. Un-freakin-beleivable save! fleury dug his edges in and went hard right to cover the wide open right side of the net.
