Some Stats that are interesting:

C Derick Brassard had assists on both goals, his 10th and 11th of the season. He has 3-4-7 during a current five-game point streak. He has recorded at least a point in 15-of-17 games this season and has 6-7-13 his past nine games.

LW Rick Nash scored his ninth goal of the season in the third period. He has pushed his goal streak to four games, after being held goalless the previous nine games. He added his eighth assist of the season and has a 4-2-6 during a current four-game point streak. He has 4-6-10 in his past nine games, after being held without a point the previous four games.

Now to comments:

Oilers Coach Craig MacTavish

"That was a wild one. We got the early power play goal and then they started coming, they've been playing well. We got one other opportunity and it ended up getting out of the first (period) 2-0. A little bit different than what we had last night, where tonight we capitalized on virtually all of our chances and last night we didn't capitalize on any. We had more last night and less goals to show for it."

(On Roloson) "He was really on top of his game and when your goalie out plays the other guy, it's normally a pretty good indication of the result. Rollie played really well last night too and terrific tonight."

Blue Jackets Head Coach Ken Hitchcock

Commenting on tonight’s game…

“We lost the special teams game. Everybody here is talking power play; it was the penalty kill. Combination of not getting...not winning face offs, not getting pucks out. We have been living on this edge for a while and today we got burnt....The first 3 (goals) were doisies. The one we really needed a save on was the 5th goal. That was the one that broke our back. You can’t live on the negative play of our special teams and win long term. That's why we look like we play really well and we look like a good team 5 on 5 but when you live on the wrong side of the special teams game... when you lose the (special teams) game all time, you’re going to be in trouble.”

On if he thought of pulling Leclaire...

"It just went quick. Games 4-2 and where I should have probably pulled him was after the 5th goal. He's going to have to fight like the rest of us to get back his game."

How ofter does Hitch look at the standings...

"Everyday. Their important. The problem with the loss is we have four days to think about it. You don’t like to lose like this at home. It’s not a good feeling when you’re out playing a team and you kind of just melt at the end.”

Commenting on the last couple homes games …

“We’re letting in too many goals – bottom line. We're not tight enough defensively and were letting in too many goals. Like I said, the chances they get are doisies.”

Commenting on if the Jackets have the tools to solve the special teams problems...

Your players are your players. We got people that need to play better. Never mind...my job isn't to go and say trade for this guy or get that guy. My job is to get whats here playing better and there are guys that need to play better. There are a few guys that need to play a lot better. We got a lot of effort from some guys but we have people that flat need to play a lot better.

Jason Chimera

"We played well for most of the game....We played well enough to win and then to lose it this way."

commenting on power play...

"Taken for granted that they are out there (on power play unit). Your on the power play unit for a reason and that's to score goals."

commenting on the last 2 home games getting beat badly...

"I think it is disappointing no matter if they are at home or on the road. It's one of those things where your not playing that bad and then we lose 5-2 (Yotes game) and then 7-2. It means we are giving up to many good chances."

commenting on if you thought we played well enough to win but get crushed...

"Chances, quality chances. We play well 5 on 5 and I think penalty kill couldn't kill a penalty and we couldn't get a goal on the power play. That's the game right there. We played well 5 on 5 but our special teams suck. That's what cost us the hockey game."

Rick Nash

Commenting on tonight’s game…

“I think the best thing is forget about this game. We got a couple days off. Lots of practice for our special teams, and come back on Saturday night and put this one behind us.”

Commenting on the team being outscored 12-4 the last two home games…

“It seems like it’s always long layoffs. We get a couple days off and then play again at home. It just seems like our energy level isn’t high enough.”

Pascal Leclaire

Commenting on staying focused when facing a minimum number of shots…

“It’s a little bit harder, but I don’t want to use that as an excuse. It wasn’t a good game for me. Like I said, it happens. You try to figure it out as quick as possible and move forward.”

Commenting on tonight’s game…

“It’s done. It’s over. 7-2 or 2-1 loss, it’s still zero points in the standings for us. We don’t play for personal stats here; we play for the team winning. You got to forget about it and move on. It’s too long of a season to worry about this one.”
