Just three minutes before their arbitration hearing, the Washington Capitals and forward Marcus Johansson agreed to a three year, $13.75M contract that would pay MoJo $4.2M for the upcoming season and $4.75M for the last two years of the deal.

The two sides were apart by about $2M entering today with Johansson looking for around $5.25M a season.

The Landskrona, Sweden native tallied 46 points last season in 74 games.

The Caps now sit with around $3.45M and still need to re-sign defenseman Dmitry Orlov.

Orlov made $2M last season, and could easily do a bridge contract of about $2.5M-$3M.

Glad Johansson is sticking around. He's been a quality player the last two seasons, especially on the power-play. For a guy that has had 5 different coaches in his short career, his quality of play hasn't diminished and he has been able to adapt to almost every style of play in the league. With consistent direction from Trotz, Johansson has the potential to turn into one of the better two-way forwards in the league.
