Just to point you guys to a few hab-destinations that are absolute must-reads on any given day! These blogs are written by the guys who I believe do the absolute best job
covering the Montreal Canadiens:
Without further ado, and in no particular order:
Mike Boone's Online EEEE-Mail- The Montreal Gazette/habsinsideout.com
Mike is known for his great sense of humor, his pragmatic breakdown of each Canadiens occurrence, his sarcasm, and of course his mastery of the English language. The Booner writes a live-game blog for all Canadiens games (home or away), and then writes a "morning-after" blog entitled "About Last Night..."
Dave Stubbs- The Montreal Gazette/habsinsideout.com
If there's anyone in Montreal who covers the Canadiens with as much elegance as Dave does, I've yet to meet them. He's one of the best feature writers in sports, as evidenced by his many awards.
Arpon Basu- Canadian Press/Dailyhab-it
Arpon has been covering the Canadiens for several years, but recently created a blogspot known as the "dailyhab-it." His pieces take on a similar nature to the ones you'll find here, and are incredibly informative. Arpon also has a show on Wednesday nights on the Team 990, called "Hump Night"-- a sophisticated hour of sports talk.
Mitch Melnick- Team 990, Mitchmelnick.com
Montreal's best radio host (Melnick in the Afternoon, Team990) recently created a website, where he blogs at least once a week. Melnick is a straight shooter, who knows as much about sports as he does about music (and believe me, it would be hard to find someone who knew more about music).
Marc Antoine Godin- La Presse/cyberpresse.ca/sports
Marc Antoine has been covering the Habs for a few years, but is one of the most informed reporters you'll find. If you read french, you'll find his writing is unpretentious, and his work often highlights how deep his knowledge of hockey truly is. If you were ever looking for a guy to put on your hockey-trivia team, Marc would be your captain.
Sean Gordon- Globe and Mail/Globesports.com
If I'm not mistaken Sean might be the only reporter in Montreal who could truly do the job in both French and English without much of a distinction between the quality of the work. I don't know if he's ever made a go of it in French, but the pieces he writes for the Globe and Mail in English are top-notch.
