According to Russian newspaper Sport Express, unrestricted free agent Nikolay Zherdev is returning to the KHL. He has signed with Atlant Mytishchi (the same club that recently signed Alexei Kovalev). Zherdev played a somewhat disappointing season with Atlant in 2009-10, scoring 13 goals and 39 points in 52 regular season games and one assist in four playoff games.

Atlant will be coached next season by former Washington Capitals player and Team Sweden Olympic gold medal coach Bengt Gustafsson.
