Who made mistakes on their protection list? Mon's Buzzcast

Some of the names not included on NHL protection lists released Sunday may have something to do with pre-arranged deals made with George McPhee, but if you take a look at some of the decisions made, there are some head scratchers.

The majority of teams went with seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender. Some clubs went with eight skaters to shield more blueliners, but only the New York Islanders went the way of protecting five defensemen and exposed all of their forwards except Anders Lee, Andrew Ladd and John Tavares.

Islanders GM Garth Snow does not appear to have managed his roster situation well. New York had a rather short stay at the NHL Draft Combine earlier this month, which seems to add up with recent rumors that they are going to trade their 2017 first round pick to the Golden Knights to get McPhee to take a specific player and protect others who are vulnerable.

What other teams do you think made miscalculations???

We will be discussing this and more on the HockeyBuzzcast at 130 and I’ll be back this evening with a rumor update:
