On Boston, Calgary, Rene Bourque, Stephen Weiss, and more

I've been hearing rumors about this since Thursday night, but they really have intensified since late last night. The rumors are still scattered and split I would say 40/60.

Around 40% say the Bruins are in heavy talks with Florida about bringing Stephen Weiss to Beantown to reunite him with his former teammate (and still current friend Nathan Horton). Reports are that Florida is still in mode to cut salary after losing David Booth, and as strong as Weiss has been (4-5-9 in 9) this Panthers team is such a new group.

Then I would say about 60% are more along the lines of a deal to bring Rene Bourque to Boston from Calgary...but there does appear to b more to this potential deal too...

I have heard a third team could be involved as well...A source noted: "A third team would have to get involved if Boston and Calgary were to make this deal. The Flames aren't finding what they want from the Bruins roster."

A few have noted that Tuomo Ruutu is loved by both Boston and Calgary...

Is it getting desperate yet for the former Cup champs? I don't believe so. They are more than capable of putting together a 5-0 run and being right back in the thick of it.

Some are saying the Bruins may try to fill the need by moving a goalie...

Is Halloween the New Thanksgiving?

It used to be said that GMs looked to the American Thanksgiving as the point to panic if their team was struggling. I would say that date has moved up by about three weeks, and now Halloween is the day to look at. We have already seen a few deals go down and looking at recent stats (last three seasons) we see teams not in a playoff spot at Halloween only have about a 15% chance of making the playoffs....I will have a big blog on halloween about who should be panicking.
