Update 4:52 am. : canucks high on Cory Stillman.

On Kovalev...

Don't rule out Kovalev to the Penguins. I am not. However, I would say it is far from a certainty and there is some competition out there.

The Canadiens got a huge win tonight in Vancouver (huge doesn't even begin to describe it) however the Canadiens need to get more scoring and they need to get bigger up front...

How about Phoenix?

Want a longshot for Kovalev? How about the Phoenix Coyotes.

Talking to some folks tonight the Coyotes are starting to believe they could make a run and they need scoring to do so. When Upshall and Pyatt are your best goal scorers (each have 16 goals) the addition of a goal scorer would be very welcomed. When you compare them to the Flyers tonight, the Flyers have 5 players with 18 or more goals, it goes to show you how important Bryzgalov has been for them...And Keith Yandle should truly be considered for the Norris. Yandle has been unreal, and another true testament to USA hockey...Yandle will be a fixture on all future US Olympic teams.

Capitals Next to Deal?

The Caps are VERY high on Andy McDonald right now, however they may be closer to making a deal with Minnesota. There are murmurs out there of a possible Semin for Burns swap, but honestly this feels more speculative than anything else. The Capitals had discussed Brunette a few weeks back, but that appears to have faded.

More Paul Stastny rumors...

Amidst the rumors this past week about Stastny I have found the Penguins may have been the most aggressive and interested in Paul. It didn't happen of course, but these clues are always worth remembering.

Devils and Flames continue to discuss

The Devils are buyers and extremely interested in Bouwmeester....from what I can tell, the Flames would like a major forward and a defensive prospect in return.

And no...none of these are the trade rumor I still can't discuss...

Time to take a nap.
