Hey Winnipeg. Is that an Airplane in the Sky?

Just back from a meeting with a source and here is where things stand.

On Eric Brewer...

Brewer has signed a four year $16M extension in Tampa.

On the Leafs Rumors...

Like before the Phaneuf/Giguere trade things have gone very quiet in the forest. The official, unofficial line is "Nothing Imminent" which is almost alwats exactly the case until a deal is imminent. The actual mood was better put by another Leafs source who said, "Hurry up and wait."

Ok, so here's the bottom line. Toronto and Brian Burke are prepared to take over the news day, but of course they need another team to play ball. They have several "minorish"possible moves in the works, and one (possibly two) flat out EPIC moves. They are waiting on the epics to determine how to proceed with the minor moves, but rest assured fans of this team should be very pleased.

I was informed: "The Leafs are waiting for another team's team meeting to break up because that "other" team is making an "owner's level decision" regarding the direction the team will take in the next week or so."

IMPORTANT: Five Hole for Food

Ok, so I know today is a major rumor day, but it's because so many of you are stopping by (800k+ Yesterday)that I really wanted to take this time to promote and plug the coolest hockey related charity idea ever.

It is called "Five Hole For Food" and if you live in Canada it's coming to a town near you VERY soon...

from: FiveHoleForFood.com
Five Hole for Food is an annual coast to coast tour playing street hockey to support food banks across Canada. We set up a rink in the heart of each city and invite anyone and everyone to come out to play hockey to fight hunger. Bring your stick, bring a can of food, and have fun. 100% of the proceeds go to the local food bank in each city.

When I was in Vancouver last week I met with FHFF founder Richard Loat and we talked about the project. I was blown away. The interview I did with Richard will be in an upcoming blog, but the tour has already begun. Last night they played in St. Johns and are currently driving the Trans Canada Highway towards tomorrow night's town: Halifax. That's right. DRIVING. These guys are driving from St. Johns to Vancouver. 8,500KM!

They are hitting Halifax on June 25th, then:
June 26 Charlottetown, PEI
June 27 Saint John, NB
June 29 Montreal
June 30 Ottawa
July 1 Toronto
July 3 Winnipeg
July 4 Regina
July 5 Calgary
July 6 Edmonton
July 8 Victoria, BC
July 9 Vancouver

The exact details can be found on their website FiveHoleForFood.com
But also be sure to follow them on twitter HERE

And also, I have given Richard a Blog on Hockeybuzz so he can keep us up to date on the various games and the amount of food raised.

I implore all who can take part to do so!
