UFA2B/ Most Trade-able Week: Luke Schenn and perhaps another Flyers D-man

The hardest commodity to acquire at each and every Trade Deadline is a defenseman. They are rare to both head to Free Agency and to be moved at all. Teams horde these guys...

Philadelphia however offers some very odd circumstances up this season...to say the least.

Here is a team currently very much struggling to both score and keep the puck out of the net, and while many are critical of the defense on this team it is also a team with help on the way in terms of several top flight defensive prospects...

Enter Luke Schenn, Evgeny Medvedev, and even Mark Streit..who does still have a year to go on his contract after this season, but who has also shown himself to be a very effective power play/puck moving defender...

Luke Schenn is perhaps the most interesting case. He still is extremely young and still highly regarded by many scouts who believe he was rushed to the NHL, but could eventually land as a more than capable top four defensive defenseman in the NHL. And a guy who can hit with the best of them...

Teams like Anaheim, New Jersey and Edmonton could give Luke a long look as a UFA, but I have already heard that Columbus, San Jose, and Anaheim already have inquired about Luke for this season. Boston could also be added to that list I am told.

Medvedev has not worked out in the NHL so far, but I am told Ovechkin could push hard for the Capitals to consider an attempt at him...and that wouldn't shock me at all.

More to come on Friday as I look at the player many feel could draw the most attention of all at the trade deadline...
