My next blog will address Carlson and your offers as GM, but now we have a player who is available via trade this offseason...So let's hear your offers...but first, a little about Tyson Barrie right now...
There was a point at which Tyson Barrie could have been gotten from the Avalanche for not much, but now he has become quite the hot commodity...and quite the defenseman...I have always been a Tyson Barrie fan, because when I saw him as a rookie he reminded me a lot of a young Duncan Keith.. Keith was also a healthy scratch in Chicago early on his career, but when you have that kind of speed and instincts as a Dman...you will eventually own this NHL.
After all of that, and the many rumors over the past few years of his demise, Tyson Barrie has struck back this year in a big way...He currently leads all defensemen in the NHL in points per game...All defensemen.
So the Avalanche are going to hold onto him then, right? Well, maybe not.
He still has his fans and his detractors within the Avalanche organization, but he could also become a major trade chip in helping the Avalanche move forward..not many players are more valuable...
Toronto will absolutely be looking at Tyson Barrie among other defensemen this fall...especially if they were to acquire Tavares, and then they would have to move out a top forward and bring in a defender to balance out the lineup...
The Canadiens, Sabres and Islanders all have expressed interest in the past and all are kicking themselves for not getting a deal done long ago when the price was more reasonable...
