* Sabres and Flames still talking Regehr, but the trade rests entirely in Robyn's hands right now. This is why I am not a fan of releasing rumors saying a player is trying to decide if he will waive a No Trade Clause. Regehr is now in a no win spot. He negotiated this No Trade, and has every right to NOT accept a trade...however if he says no to the trade and ends up staying in Calgary how will the fans feel?
That being said, other teams, the Sharks, the Red Wings, the Islanders and the Capitals all have strong interest in Regehr...
If the Sabres don't get Regehr look for them to be the top player in the Christian Ehrhoff rumors... The Sabres are also looking at a "top six forward."
On Ryan Smyth...
Strong rumors tonight the Flames are getting close to acquiring Ryan Smyth...We know they are moving Regehr to make space, but for Ryan Smyth? I am not sold that these rumors aren't somehow a hope to get Edmonton to pony up more for Ryan Smyth...
On Jagr...
I believe many of you will be surprised at how little Jagr is going to get. The Canadiens are the only team I am hearing that is putting a serious deal together.
On the Penguins...
A team to watch tomorrow...the Penguins..I am hearing the Penguins are trying to get Teemu Selanne if they can't get Jagr. But the Pens are also very interested Paul Stastny...as well as David Booth out of Florida.
On the Lightning...
Today's events are making the need to get a Stamkos deal done all the more important. There are no less than 4 teams considering a run at Stamkos...The Rangers, Leafs, Sabres and Flyers head the pack.
On the Leafs...
I am told to look out early tomorrow morning....the Leafs may pull the trigger on one of the biggest deals the team has ever seen. "Bigger than Phaneuf. Way bigger." I was told. The names to look for Parise, Stamkos, and believe it or not... Eric Staal.
On the Senators...
There is some big talk tonight that the Avalanche and Sens are talking about a deal that could see the teams swapping stars....Also, there is a rumor the Sharks may be looking at getting Spezza back with his former linemate Heatley.
On the Flyers...
I am told they are defintely considering making a run at Brad Richards. And I do believe the Flyers will still deal Versteeg...and likely to Florida..
On the Coyotes and Rangers...
The Coyotes may take a big contract off the Rangers hands in return for the rights to Jovanovski.
On the Canucks..
The Canucks also would like to grab Spezza, but look to them to also make a play for the Sabres Roy...
The Kings...
Could actually land another Richards still...
On the Draft's Host Team...
The Minnesota Wild are talking to the Washington Capitals...possibly about Alex Semin and/or Mike Green.
On the Devils...
NJ is still holding on to hope they could land Burns or Regehr...they also really like Bieksa...who I think will re-sign in Vancouver in the next day or so.
Martin Brodeur to the Caps?
I doubt it, but once again there are murmurs..
