The Year of The Trade Deadline Goalie?...Lack of Young Stars in Net...

There are a lot of teams out there currently carrying a lot of goalies and with good reason...Next year's goalie UFA group is very slim...Halak, Lehtonen, Craig Anderson and Cam Ward are the top of next summer's list...

However, in 2019 we will see a whole different level potentially on the open market: Rinne, Bobrovsky, Fleury, Varlamov, Talbot, Smith....and more..

All this means that teams with goalie issues at this year's deadline will not be able to wait to make a move because waiting could mean potentially not being able to fix the issue until the 2019-2020 season.

There are some great young goalies coming into the NHL of course, but timing with young goalies is always the most difficult to judge...

The NHL is lacking a bit in the solid young goalies that are sure fire to develop into goalies like Price, Lundqvist, and Rinne.....Currently the NHL has only 3 potential star NHL keepers under the age of 25. Matt Murray, Vasilevsky, and John Gibson have the most potential of the young keepers in my opinion...

Goalies under 25 with definite potential include: Lehner, Korpisalo, Hellebuyck and Dominique

Most of the Current NHL Goalies we regularly call "stars" are older...many a lot older.......

Lundqvist and Rinne are 34
Crawford and Fleury are 32
Quick is 31
Schneider is 30
Price, Rask and Talbot are 29
Bobrovsky is 28

So when this year's deadline hits we could very much see a lot of goalies moving around for sure...
