As I finalize the last buyers/sellers lists before the deadline start here today...

For the first time in several years there is a move towards "hockey trades" and a huge reluctance to move for a rental. VERY few teams are interested in paying the crazy prices teams are asking for rentals....As the Rangers have found out with Nash and the Sabres with Kane...to get any return on these players teams may have to play this right up to the deadline next week...

As far as "hockey trades" go....it really has less to do with buyers and sellers and more to do with teams looking for an adrenaline boost and a long term solution....The trade rumor from yesterday that involved Pacioretty and Schwartz is a good example...

And when it comes to "hockey trades" I still think the best out there is Rutherford in Pittsburgh...The Penguins are hot and looking like a possible favorite already....


On the Flyers Goaltending....

Yesterday Neuvirth went down, leaving the Flyers to their third goalie Lyon at the worst possible time...Nothing against Alex Lyon, who I believe deserves a shot, but the Flyers will at the least look to find a backup with some playoff experience... I do believe Hextall was OK with Neuvirth/Lyons combo and that may be why he reportedly turned down Mrazek for a third rounder last week....Wonder if he would consider that deal again now....?
