There is no official comment from the Flyers as of yet, but other sources are very strong on the likelihood that James vanRiemsdyk, the #2 player picked in the draft in Columbus two summers ago after Patrick Kane, may indeed be joining the Flyers and/or Phantoms prior to the playoffs.
This could be an enormous addition to the team.
The book on James vanRiemsdyk is that he has not had the greatest of seasons at the University of New Hampshire, but scouts have told me they believe he is just "done playing at the college level and needs to be inspired by a new challenge."
UNH has needed him at center, but talking to Julie Robenhymer, who has followed the College Scene for Hockeybuzz and was just at the UNH games this past weekend, James is a better winger than he is a center.
Scouts have compared him to a mixture of RJ Umberger and John LeClair. A gander at the goal scored below ought to get Flyers fans heart pumping...
