Let's get back to some rumors, Shall we?
To say there are rumblings regarding Nikita Kucherov is to put it mildly. These started earlier in the week, off the record, but now they have gained a ton of steam as we move towards the end of the World Cup of Hockey.
You can be relatively sure that nothing will happen while this tournament is still going on as the NHL has "subtly encouraged" a bit of a trade and offer sheet embargo so as not to upstage the events in Toronto, but that hasn't stopped discussions which are running rampant with so many GMs around.
The Lightning have a bit of an issue here. Nikita Kucherov is a young budding star and could make upwards of 5-6M per year....The Bolts have just inked two cornerstone players in Stamkos and Hedman to enormous deals and many are wondering if they would actually match an offer sheet or rather have the draft picks.
I have heard Vancouver, Montreal, the Devils and the Blues tied to possible offer sheets..
Now, while an offer sheet is possible, the more likely scenario would be a team going to Tampa and saying they would rather work out a trade...similar to what the Flyers did with Nashville before they put an offer sheet out for Shea Weber.
