Word tonight is the Ottawa Senators are looking officially entering the buyers game in a big way. The injury to Bobby Ryan may open up some more space, but more than that there is a growing belief that the Sens are seeing themselves ahead of schedule and as a serious possible threat to contend in the East.
They have had some discussions with Colorado regarding Duchene....discussions that derailed pretty quickly with the astronomical asking price...however now the names I am hearing are Anthony Duclair and Patrick Eaves....
Eaves I am also hearing connected to Toronto, Columbus and Chicago.
On the Flyers...
Tonight's game, and every game this week culminating with the outdoor game versus Pitt this Saturday will go a long way in determining the path Hextall will take. There are places he could move assets including Streit, Neuvirth and/or Mason... but if the Flyers can get a few wins, starting with tonight, they could also stay put or even look to add a player.
One of the keys to the Flyers could be a straight up player for player deal that really has nothing to do with the playoff race...the Flyers have several young defensemen in the system and could swap one for a potential scoring threat.
More on those sorts of trades this week. That is one of the parts of this year's deadline which very much define the differences between this year and maybe the past three years...there are more blue chip prospects across the league than we have maybe EVER seen previously...
