We are really entering crazy season and in many ways I am getting a strong indication the next two weeks will be as whacky as any we have ever seen...
So buckle up and here goes so far today:
On Briere...
One scout said to me that Danny Briere in the free-agent market has turned a few teams in different directions. Right now I am hearing this to be mostly a two horse race between Montreal and Nashville, but Pittsburgh, the Islanders and Blues are also popping up. It is expected that Briere will look to situation first and not strap a team long term.
On Luongo...
First off can anyone imagine a world where Tortorella and Luongo co-exist? I feel the Canucks media would explode. That said, Florida and Tampa are very much leading the way...
On Bobrovsky...
I am hearing the KHL is not likely at all and a 1 year deal could happen soon if a longer deal can't be worked out. Bob will stay in Columbus...
On Bobby Ryan...
The Flyers and Red Wings may battle this one out at the Draft. And if Ryan is moved to Philly, Bryzgalov would be bought out...
On Iginla...
Los Angeles and Montreal are in the forefront at this point, but I have heard more on Buffalo in the past hour ...So far I am keeping the Sabres around 10%, but that could change. On a similar note, the Sharks getting Couture locked up at a reasonable price has opened the door to exploring Iginla as well.
On Clarkson...
The Maple Leafs are where he wants to go according to a source very familiar with the situation and I am hearing the Leafs and Devils are talking trade to acquire his rights.
On Bernier...
The Wild are involved, but only as a backup plan if Backstrom can't get done...The Flyers are only mildly involved...more just being kept in the loop. The Devils see him as a possible heir to the throne...The Islanders want him perhaps the most but Niederreiter doesn't appear to be the right fit...at this point. That could of course change...
