This week many blogs will look like this one, but I will be posting much more frequently...and my team by team blog is on the way...all I can promise on that one is it will be ready for noon July 1, because if I get interrupted by breaking rumors I will jump on them in my attempt to keep you as up-to-date as possible.

* Jarmoir Jagr is down to Montreal and Pittsburgh....and it may be Mario's call. From what I hear it's Montreal unless Pittsburgh comes in much higher dollar-wise. It has really always been Montreal. It comes down to Plekanec, and Jagr loves the city. The city that loves Kovalev will absolutely adore Jagr. He is the prototype for a player in Montreal. Ridiculous skill, intriguing personality, and interesting off the ice...

* The Flyers are in need of a true gritty leader/fourth line center who can kill penalties, win face-offs and help the young centers like Schenn and Couturier start off their NHL careers the right way. Enter John Madden. Two team Cup winner who has already played this role to perfection in Chicago, and was the unsung hero of last season's Hawks Cup team. Covering the Finals I remember all the talk of Madden mentoring Bolland. I have heard today from two sources Madden is a possibility in Philly.

*The Canucks found themselves in a position during the Cup Final this year where beyond Alex Burrows they looked very soft and very lacking in good old fashioned "old-time hockey mentality" type players....not fighters, just guys who will stand up and stop the bleeding. Guys who won't let a locker room feel sorry for itself. Ryan Kesler's injuries really hampered his effectiveness as a vocal guy...He was doing all he could do, but he needed backing. Enter Brooks Laich. I have heard today that Canucks may put him as #1 on their list after signing Bieksa.

more to come..
