First I wanted to mention I am watching the Hawks and Wings on National TV and realizing this could be a statement game for Chicago. I remember last year writing how the Hawks were going to lose to the Wings in the playoffs and that their time would one day come...This feels like that day to me.


Here are Some Quick Hit rumors so far from today.

*Lecavalier: So far I am not hearing the Lightning have any intention of moving Vinny. I was told he will be a Bolt for at least the remainder of this season. Of course every team will listen. They have to.

*Shaone Morrisonn. An interesting player on several levels and the Sharks are very interested in the pending UFA. Can the Caps afford to move him though? And how would the Sharks make room? These are questions always worth asking, but not roadblocks in reporting rumors in my opinion...

*Ryane Clowe. Clowe is signed, but I keep hearing this Shark's name mentioned. A source told me the pressure on San Jose is great and they have a few holes to fill, and they won't hesitate to move Clowe if need be.

*Kovalchuk and the Habs. Oh how I love to put out a rumor like this and await getting slammed by loyal and logical Habs fans. I am simply the messenger and you are simply one of many teams that is interested in Kovalvchuk. And as great as Halak has been, if you can get Ilya as a rental you might consider it. Kovalchuk turns the Canadiens from a fringe playoff team into a legit force in the East. Your backup goalie does not. Of course the Habs would also be throwing in prospects and picks, but you need to take a shot once in a while.

* Jeff Halpern...Halpern has definitive value and I have heard the Sabres and Flames have interest. I am a big fan of Halpern and could really see him Calgary.

* Alexei Ponikarovsky. The Penguins rumor has been out there and there does appear to be truth to it, but again I would look to Calgary here. I have also heard the Rangers.

* Marek Svatos. I have heard the Rangers, Leafs, and Flyers (pending another deal)

* Phaneuf. One source tells me the Boston Bruins are preparing a major offer for Dion.

* Souray. I am still hearing the Caps.
