Here is a quick look at what I am following up on this week beyond Stamkos, Parise, Semin, and Hemsky...all of whom I am always making calls on...
* Vancouver: Still looking for the elusive "top six forward" and surprisingly not afraid to trade a big piece from last year's dominant team...
*Toronto: They are waiting on Stamkos and Parise and my source tells me they are "not close to done tweaking this summer, even if they can't land the big buck."
*Detroit: When was the last time they had Cap Space? Expect Holland to NOT be the "kid with a new credit card" that we have seen elsewhere...The Wings are VERY in on Semin.
*Carolina: A little surprised that they have yet to make a move for a top 6, but word this weekend was leaking out they had interest in Hemsky. This I could see as very possible.
*LA Kings: Kings fans need not sweat Doughty getting done, but the Kings are very interested in Stamkos, as well as Parise...I keep hearing they aren't in on Hemsky, at least at this point.
*Winnipeg: The new Jets remind me a bit of the old Sabres. I believe they will follow the lead of Nashvills who always gets themselves some bargains in early August when the arbitration rulings start to come in. This is how the Preds landed Dumont and Joel Ward in the past...
*Buffalo: They have spent money like crazy, but I keep hearing they aren't yet done...they need a forward or two and the signing of Ehrhoff and Regehr has opened up options...
*NY Islanders: The Isles will be also looking for the extra money people will need to free up come arbitration...Garth wants to add players...make no mistake about it, from all I hear there is finally some real pressure to see the Isles in the playoffs this season.
