Some quick hits this morning.

On the Leafs...

Talked to a source just now who confirmed that the St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs have had trade discussions in the last few days regarding "a deal that would see the team swapping top six forwards and a prospect."

The source told me the Blues are looking for "added speed and scoring touch" and the Leafs have been talking to few teams now regarding toughness and some playmaking ability.

On the Philly Icegirls...

Last night the Flyers played a video montage at the game announcing "You Spoke. We Listened. The Icegirls will return for opening night. Tryouts Oct 5"

The crowd erupted.

And this saga is now getting a ton of attention.

The debate regarding ice girls has gotten as out-of-hand as the uniforms they wear.

There is nothing wrong with ice girls if they are clothed in respectable uniforms and treated fairly by the team and fans. Nothing at all. I know several ice girls and they love their job. They know they are going to get the occasional idiot yelling something from the crowd, but as one ice girl said to me years ago at the All-Star game in Atlanta, "Idiots are idiots, at the rink and away from it."

Beautiful women are unfortunately used to the dregs of society catcalls.

The Flyers are bringing back the ice girls but they will be dressed more sensibly. I don't understand why that wasn't the deal the whole time. I always felt a better statement could be made by simply adjusting the uniforms...otherwise it is like you are punishing the women who were wearing them by taking away their jobs because you put them in something too revealing.

And then again the Flyers at least were trying to fix a situation which many teams are still ignoring...but now the whole thing just feels really awkward.

I think the NHL needs to come up with some sort of standards here as to what is or isn't appropriate for ice girls to be dressed in.

What say you? And please, PLEASE keep your comments respectful. There will be NO tolerance for idiotic statements that demean women.

Thank you

Today's Buzzcast will be at 1pm. We will discuss this and other trade rumors...for certain.

It's the best fantasy game every created. Of course, we're a little biased. The HBSL is a hybrid between a salary cap game and a head-to-head fantasy game. Each week you create your 20 man roster based on the actual NHL salary cap and the actual salary cap hits. You then face-off with a fellow hockey fan. At the end of the regular season, we throw the best 128 teams into a 7-week playoff.

There is a Season Ticket Holder bracket and a Free bracket.
