We are heavy into Rumourville today! Enjoy...

These are some of the players I am updating on The 2010 UFA/RFA Rumor Charttoday

On Kovalchuk...

The Devils are rumored to be talking to Michel Therrien about the head coaching job and I am told that Kovalchuk has been talking to some of his Russian friends who played for Therrien in Pittsburgh. The Devils are rumored to be offering up a MAJOR multi-year deal as well as the captaincy to Ilya.

The Devils are also trying to make some other moves as well...

This is all VERY un-Devils like stuff, and I am told that one of the primary owners for the Devils is pushing very hard for Kovalchuk and trying to get the team to move to a more "offensive minded style."

On Kaberle...

It's getting much closer. Sources tell me the Devils are also in on this, but the teams to watch are the Penguins, Capitals, Thrashers, Kings and Sabres. Burke has already turned down multiple offers including a few which included first round picks. Talking to people close to this situation I can tell you that Brian will not just move Kaberle for a pick. He wants to start winning this year. So a player or two will have to come back for Kaberle.

There are reports the asking price is a scoring winger and some toughness.

On Spezza...

I asked a source what were the chances Spezza is moved...I was told 75%. That is MUCH higher than I expected. There are rumors out there about Boston moving their #2 overall for Spezza, and I am also hearing the Oilers, Sabres, Stars and Kings have their eye on Spezza. Again, 75% is VERY high for this relatively conservative source.

On Semin...

The early word was the Capitals were very high on running with their two young goalies until this latest possibility opened up. The Caps aren't moving Semin unless they get the one goalie they are targeting. Semin isn't being shopped, but rather one team out there is offering up a "goalie they can't refuse."

On Marleau...

The Kings are definitely in on Marleau, but they aren't the only team. Three teams from the Northeast: Montreal, Buffalo, and Ottawa will be in the market for Marleau..as will the Sharks, although Marleau needs to decide to take a home discount for the Sharks to make it work.

On Jose Theodore..

I am hearing the Sharks and Flames are interested.

On Anton Volchenkov...

The Caps are playing hard to get here..they are saying they are out of this, but I am not convinced...The Penguins are extremely interested in Volchenkov as are the Red Wings and Devils. The Islanders may actually be the team who puts the most money on the table for Anton.

Much more coming tonight...
