Iginla Won't Approve Trade, Marleau, BOS, CAR, PHI, WPG

As you all remember, last week I wrote about several teams poking around to see if Jarome Iginla would be a good pickup at the deadline for them and obviously Iginla has publicly responded to quell any rumors moving forward by telling Bleacher Report's Adrian Dater that he will not approve any trade this season.

Sometimes we hear this from a player and as the year goes their mind is changed, BUT if we have learned nothing from Iginla's career to date it is that once he has his mind set he is not likely to be swayed. Calgary fans can chime in on this one.

All kidding aside, Iginla is a class act and has earned his right to control his destiny.

On Marleau...

Word is out in the NHL that Patrick Marleau wants out. While I am not sure of this and believe Marleau might be just weighing his options, if you talk to other teams they are very much playing this like he is in play. The initial report from Kevin Kurz had him willing to go to three teams, but I keep hearing more teams are willing to try and convince Pat they want him.

So don't be surprised if this list grows.

From one source..."The fact is Marleau has spent years without ANY desire to leave town, and once a player opens himself a little to the possibility the options often widen."

From all I have heard Marleau wants to win and that won't change...but there are way more than three teams out there with a willingness to acquire him and a shot at a Cup. I would keep a close look at the Lightning and the Islanders...

Bruins and Canes talking?

This I am told is very preliminary and involves a young D-man the Bruins are interested in....not named Hanifin of course...

Flyers and Jets lines still open.

They have become the Sam and Diane of the NHL. At some point if these teams don't get together on a deal I will eat my hat. Both teams love secrecy and yet STILL I keep hearing from multiple outside sources that something is coming. Of course the fact that each team is struggling doesn't help much...May not be Byfuglien.....but may be...I expect to have a Byfuglien update tomorrow...many teams want in and a few are pacing the crowd at this point.

We will discuss all this and more on the HockeyBuzzCast today LIVE at 1pm ET...
