There are only 56 Days left until the February 28th Deadline. 56 Days for GMs to better their fate. 56 Days that will determine who will have the best shot this year, and for years to come...

I asked a scout I trust tonight to list the top 10 teams he felt were likely to be the most active in the next 14 days....

Here is his list...

#10 Buffalo
The Sabres lacking Roy will be active for sure. They still have Miller and although he hasn't been lights out this year there is still the opportunity to do something and the possibility that Miller could turn it around.

#9 Atlanta
The Thrashers are improved and have cap space and may jump on the chance to see second round playoff money.

#8 Washington
Their goalie situation MUST improve if they are to see the Finals and get through the East.

#7 Toronto
They have been close a few times this year and are on the attack when it comes to adding talent up front. They will have to give up some defensive depth to do so.

#6 New Jersey
This could be the next team to make a move. Talks with LA, Calgary, and Dallas continue.

#5 Ottawa
The Sens loss of Spezza has NOT turned them into sellers. They are definitely still buyers.

#4 St. Louis
The Blues have maintained a solid standing despite unbelievable injuries. They are looking for depth up front and have the assets.

#3 Pittsburgh
The search for Crosby's wing has to be a constant journey and lately word from inside has Sid pushing more than usual to land himself a sniper.

#2 Colorado
The Avalanche is at a critical point right now. They have the guns to make a run if they can get some help up front. They are also on the edge of huge issues if they falter.

#1 Tie: Los Angeles and Calgary
The Kings are very actively pursuing a missing piece to take some pressure off of their goaltending and the Flames are just entering a very interesting phase where they will listen to all callers but may need to make a bigger move than they'd like to in an effort to make a major difference.
