Update: Hearing San Jose closing in on Patrick Sharp. One other team (NYI or CHi?) still in it.

Still weeding through the many texts and calls today and will have a Chart update and Rumor pdate this afternoon....

But I have been talking to MANY people regarding Shattenkirk and the stars may be starting to align here...there are more than a handful of people out there who do believe that because Shattenkirk wants to be a NY Ranger, he will be one...eventually...

Shattenkirk does have a place near NY and has always said he would love to play for the Rangers....and having that be known is something that tends to land you in NY. This Rangers ownership/GM have a propensity for bringing in people who want to be there...Examples...Brad Richards, Marty St. Louis, and Eric Staal. All basically had the Rangers as their choice...in the case of Marty and Eric they both said they would "ONLY" accept a trade to Rangers...and the Rangers made that happen, giving up WAY more than you would think they'd have to when you consider there were no other bidders...

And they may just do the same with Shattenkirk, who is younger and a d-man...

The question is can the Rangers just wait and sign him as a UFA or do they want to take a shot now and give up something large for the short term shot?

Should the Rangers trade for him or just wait and see?
