Happy Holidays Everyone.

I will have some fun blogs for you over the next few days as the trade freeze and the rumor world pretty much grind to a egg nog induced crawl...

There is one legit rumor today...

The Penguins are seriously scouting and considering Ales Hemsky, but the Oilers demand of a 'help now' D-man may drag another team into this in the not-to-distant future...

5 Gift Ideas that you still have time to buy!

If you are like me, tonight and tomorrow are earmarked for shopping like a lunatic and loving every second of it. Today and Tomorrow are historically two of my favorite days of the year. I am all about traditions and this year is no exception... I also fancy myself quite the gift buyer and I love to find unique interesting techy gift ideas. Some hockey related, most just fun. So here is my list...

#1. The Best Tablet For Watching NHL Hockey: The Blackberry Playbook

I did a comprehensive test that I will release on video (when I get around to editing the thing) but after testing the iPad, ipad2, Samsung Galaxy Tab10, the Amazon Kindle Fire, the Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet, and even the JooJoo I can safely say the Playbook from Blackberry offers the clearest and best performance for watching NHL Hockey. And right now you can find them for around $200 right now.

In my opinion the playbook gets a VERY unfair shake. It may not boast the apps of Apple or Android (although it will soon run Android) but it does boast the best screen and the best browser experience by far. Watching a game on a Playbook through NHL Game Center is an eye opening experience. The clarity and smoothness blows the next closest competitor, the iPad2, out of the water.

Just goes to show you. The one tablet designed by Canadians is the best one for the sport. I honestly would bet money that Jim Balsillie made sure you could watch hockey on these things before they were released...it's that good.

#2. Life of George: Lego's and Competition! What more could a person ask for! Hard to find, but look for a lego store and you'll be in luck. it is pure awesome fun

#3. T-Mobile 4G Hotspot.

I have tried them all, and this one is by far the fastest and most consistent. I get 12Megs down at home and 10 Megs down at the Wachovia Center. Of course, a hotspot is only as good as your area's coverage, but when you are in the T-Mobile area...nothing better. and really cheap too.

#4. Slingbox.

I have said it a million times, and they still aren't a sponsor, but any sportsman who doesn't own a slingbox is mission out in a huge way.

#5 Apple TV.

The NHL GameCenter adds tons of value to an already extremely valuable device. The games look clear and in HD...(often when the games on Center Ice aren't in HD). It's only $99

Sidenote: for those of you deciding between the Amazon Kindle Fire or the Nook Tablet...The Nook Tablet plays games smoother from the NHL GameCenter Website...likely due to it having twice the Ram (also $50 more) than the Fire. However, Slingbox for Android can run on the Kindle and so far I have not been able to get it running on the Nook.
