I talked to a source today who told me that despite the two year deal the Rangers inked with Brandon Dubinsky yesterday, teams haven't stopped calling on him. It is fairly widely known that Brandon was hoping for much more and the Rangers by only signing him to 2 years are essentially making him a 1 year player for them with next year being a "move him" year. This is a solution for now only.

I have been working on my Northwest Preview for this afternoon, and also chasing many more trade rumors than is usual this time of year. It has definitely gotten interesting out there as teams are now getting a better idea as to where they really are.

I will have a TRADE RUMOUR blog up either today or tomorrow, as I continue to gather information about who is being targeted and who is available right now. It is quite fascinating to see who exactly is out there compared to years past.

I asked one team exec and he called it, "Anarchy. There will be as many as 10 trades prior to opening day." While that sounds like too many, you can see that some teams have huge gaps to go along with their huge expectations and all of that can only mean one thing.

As for the Senators, they too, like the Canadiens, have their eyes set on upgrading on Defense. They are looking at either de Vries via signing and/or Hannan via trade. On insider called one of those two men in Ottawa and "almost certainty."

I will return with more including the EXTREMELY tough to predict Northwest Division today.
