Darren Dreger may be the pundit that I most respect.

Having followed these discussions for YEARS, I do believe that Dregs is dead on here, but I also tend to agree with others on TSN who saying that Vinny may want no part of Montreal. These discussion were intense last year. I wrote about it on many occasions, but each time when push came to shove I didn't get the sense that Vinny EVER wants to leave Tampa.

However, I also know that the Canadiens will do everything in their power to get him to come home to Quebec. The pressure is mounting in Montreal, and it is hard to find a single person who doesn't think that Vinny in Montreal would be good for hockey. And a hell of a lot of fun to boot.

Dreger speculated on some of the names...Higgins, Plekanec, and as many as 2 more NHLers. Alot to pay? Not at all. Vinny is a top 10 NHL player. At times a top 5.

But for a French Canadian kid who has play in a low impact market being allowed to fly under the radar this owuld change everything. Not since Mr Roy and before that Mr. Lafleur, has there been a real French face to this franchise. I have talked to other French Canadians in the NHL who wouldn't touch that role with a ten foot pole.

I remember one French player, who was in negotiations with his team a few years ago, that was approached by the Canadiens and told me flat out that the prospect "terrified" him.

But it should not terrify Vinny. Hockey players should be competitors, and in that spirit should NEVER shy away from a challenge. The great ones embrace the pressure.

I am working on the Rumour Chart now, and it is fascinating.

More to come.
