Coaching Musical Chairs Rumors a Plenty

The coaches sweepstakes is starting to heat up for sure and while Mike Babcock is technically under contract until July 1 I'm starting to hear murmurs that he may be allowed to talk to other teams prior to that date. One source confirms that even if the Red Wings were to let him talk to other teams there is a good chance the Wings could still sweep in and extend him. One team I am starting to hear connected with Mike Babcock the most right now is the New York Islanders.

Meanwhile Todd McLellan, having interviewed in Edmonton, may indeed be the favorite for that job. I'm hearing your Oilers loved what they heard from Todd.

The Flyers have been tied to Todd McLellan as well, but early indications are they're going to bring in more of a hard-nosed coach. The Flyers will go hard after Mike Babcock for sure and should Claude Julien be available he is also high on the Flyers list... There are also some in Philadelphia who would like to give former Flyer Kevin Dineen a long look, while I also believe the Flyers have interest in former Devils coach Peter DeBoer

It sounds a bit cliché to say that the New Jersey Devils now have interest in Dan Bylsma having already hired Ray Shero, but there are sources who are telling me that is indeed the case.

The Sharks also have interests in Peter DeBoer...

We will discuss all this and more on today's HockeyBuzzCast with Kevin from Tampa again today at 3:45 pm.
