This is twist I didn't fully expect...but a source in Montreal, when asked if the team was in on Carter said, "Absolutely. We are all in." This is getting good, because while it looks like Nash is heading to the West Coast, it looks like the East Coast teams are focusing more on Carter. (Although I will add the Flames are still very much in on Carter as well as LA...)

It's amazing what one Jeff Carter hat trick will do for his value...Suddenly today everyone is out there saying, "Jeff Carter's contract isn't so terrible" and "I'd take him, he scores goals.."

Well I agree. And I agreed when he wasn't even playing. Carter's numbers make that contract not so terrible in relation to many others we have seen.

As one GM put it..."Yes it is many years, but what really matters is the first five years...five years from now a five million dollar player could be a third liner who you want to chip in..I believe Jeff will more than merit the contract."
