Back from Toronto. I loved the World Cup of Hockey and the city/people I met. Thanks to so many of you for coming up and saying, "Hi" on the concourse. Even the Devils fans.
But it's time to get back on the horse and talk some rumors...
on Rasmus Ristolainen...
Ristolainen is practicing with the team and in camp, but won't play in any games until a contract is done. For now everyone seems quite happy with this, and as long as something is worked out this week all will be well. Ristolainen is already in game shape anyway having played a lot of hockey as it is. However, at some point this set up will get awkward. Imagine you are on a team and a guy you are practicing with won't play in games.
On Cam Fowler...
It really appears like the New Jersey Devils or Montreal Canadiens will be making a move for Fowler sooner than later. The talk has picked up again with Trouba on the market and the Ducks price appears to be "within a more reasonable range" according to one Eastern Conference team source. He won't be traded in the West, and neither will Trouba.
On Trouba...
A return to the team Trouba grew up rooting for, the Detroit Red Wings, is possible. The Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Habs, and Devils have all had in depth conversations.
