The more and more I talk to people, the more likely it appears that Alex Semin will not be a Cap for much longer. Not sure how many of you got to see the highlights from last night's Flyers/Caps game, but these Washington Capitals played one of their worst games of the season last night....the kind of game that could cost the coach his job...but the thing is...well....these Caps have already cost the coach his job.
Oddly, the one shining player in last night's performance may have been Semin, who was moving well and playing on the top line. From all accounts Semin knows his time is running out in Washington and some question if he really wants to remain a Cap...
There is much talk about this guy's heart and if it would be worth the risk..I am right there with those questions, however if anyone questions his skill set and talent level they are insane. He reminds me of Alex Kovalev in so many ways...mostly that his skills are top 5 in the NHL. I would love to see him away from Ovechkin to see what he could do.
Well along with Calgary, who continues discussions, there have been rumors out of Detroit and LA as well...However today, from 2 separate sources I ave heard there may be a sudden push from San Jose regarding Semin.... I will update..
Carolina Dealing...
The Canes are odds on favorites to make the next trade in the NHL, the question remains as to whether that deal will be small or enormous. Over the last week or so, there has been more talk about Staal possibly being moved than any time in recent memory..
Jets and Kings talking?
The two teams have had multiple discussions, but I am not sure exactly how far they have really gotten. I am hearing some very interesting talk about a certain Jet, former Hawk, possibly returning to Chicago....
Parise rumors in 2012.
Nothing will happen right now, but based on the preliminary talk I fully expect we are in for some serious Parise rumors in January.
Flyers and Habs looking to bolster D?
While the pick up of Kaberle was a start, I keep hearing Montreal is not finished looking for another puck moving D-man. The Flyers may also be talking to Nashville about a D-man, but I am not sure if these talks are about pulling the trigger now, or more regarding the deadline...
