Quick Hits...

* This draft REALLY is setting itself up to be quite the rumor delight! Today I finally got in touch with a source who I've been playing phone tag with all week. He left me a message on Tuesday that "Iginla may steal the thunder from Nash at the Draft." Of course, knowing how close this guy is to the situation, I have been champing at the bit to get more details. We talked just now and this is where he told me things stand...

"The Organization is not closed to the idea at all, but at this point isn't actively seeking suitors. however, they are quite convinced, and have even been flat out told, there will be offers for Jarome at the draft."

So, ok...that was a little disappointing as far as news goes...but then he added the following, "What those I talk to say is actually happening is they are moving him. He knows it and he wants it. Iginla loves Calgary to death, he will ALWAYS be a Flame at heart, but he agrees that what is best for him and the team is to get assets and take a small step back in order to move forward."

* And there is more Flames news... I have not heard Washington as a likely destination for Iginla, but I have heard the Flames are targeting Brooks Laich in Washington and feel he is the sort of character player they can build around. One thing about losing Iginla would be the team would need to find character and a Captain...

* ALSO Flames related...We have all heard Jokinen wants to remain in Calgary, however as of now he is still slotted to become a UFA on July 1 and there are at least two teams who have huge interest in his services. Montreal(e2) and Phoenix(e4). The Canadiens have been looking at Jokinen for some time now and despite a GM change apparently still have the desire. Jokinen's value is high due to this UFA crop being light in centers.

*If what I am hearing is true, and Suter will not consider playing for a big team in the East what are the Flyers looking to do in terms of D-help. I am hearing they will patch with a few more specific role playing D-men...One of them, to give extra toughness and grit, could be Gill. But don't rule out a Flyers trade either. The Flyers have as much depth up front as any team in the NHL right now and they could go hard after an established player. One player they absolutely love, as do I, is Douglas Murray in San Jose (e3)

* I am currently talking to sources with another Western Conference team who looks to be readying themselves for their most aggressive summer to date. More on the details and the team in my next blog, but let's just say "If you aren't going to fire the GM or Coach you have to fire the players. "
