Results of poll....
After tabulating the numerous votes of Hockeybuzz readers, the winner of the second favorite team is…..the Edmonton Oilers, who narrowly edged out the Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators and Calgary Flames.
Edmonton could be a sentimental favorite because they made the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and have the league’s most exciting player in Connor McDavid, while Chicago may be a second favorite to many because they are guaranteed nearly every year to have them to watch deep into the post-season.
The winner of the most hated team is not surprisingly the Montreal Canadiens, who beat out the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins by a sizable margin.
Montreal’s fan base is passionate and the Habs have won the most Stanley Cups in league history, which logically engenders disdain from many other fans in the US and Canada. The Bruins and Leafs are also Original Six teams steeped in tradition and history (most of the Leafs hated votes came from Sabres fans, which gives hope for the long simmering Buffalo-Toronto rivalry) and Pittsburgh is high on the list because they have Sidney Crosby and won the Cup last season.

Just talked to a source regarding the potential goalies available this offseason and he insists that Corey Crawford could be available via trade or possibly in the expansion draft. This could change the entire Landscape for the goalie market which could already be crowded with Mark Andre Fleury, Steve Mason and Ben Bishop available. Imagine Crawford, who may have just won his third Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks, being on the market.
Also, there is word this hour that the Olympics once again may be alive for the NHL players in South Korea. More on that in a bit.
