You would think it was the trade deadline around here for as much as my phone and email has exploded over the last few hours...

So here are some Quick Hits until after the Boudreau Presser in about 30 minutes.

*There is plenty of speculation about Randy Carlyle's future. He, like Paul Maurice, will find new homes and likely sooner than later...maybe not quite as fast as Bruce Boudreau...but fast..

*Sources tell me The Blue Jackets are being very active. There are some who believe the Jackets are "waiting to make a move and were all prepared to do so until Urban Meyer news hit this week." Urban Meyer of course is the new coach of the Ohio State Football Team...and Ohio State Football news is not easy to compete with in Columbus.

*One player available is Brassard and the latest team to get involved in those talks is the Montreal...I for one see this as perhaps the best fit for Brassard.

*The Hawks are also talking to teams in an attempt to get a D-man. Calgary is one of those teams

*It's not happening today or even this month, but be prepared for Rick Nash to Toronto rumors...We discussed this during last night's podcast and from what I understand there may be some preliminary contingency talks regarding this. We see these sorts of discussions a lot in December...teams talking about trades which could go down "if certain other scenarios play out" or "depending on the position a team finds itself at the deadline."

*Along those lines, the Kings are very serious about letting it be known if there is a market for Zach Parise they are in. And where Nash would probably not be until the last minute, I have heard the Kings may try to push this to a "sooner than later" scenario.

*On Alex Semin...I keep hearing the Wings and Jets named, but today I also have heard from 2 sources that the Canucks may be up to something.

*The Canucks, as an aside...may be also making a major personnel move in the not-to-distant future.

*The Flyers have placed D-man Walker on Re-entry waivers. Unlikely he is claimed and I would love to see Matt Walker take advantage of this shot here. I am big fan of Walker's and Pronger's injury is definitely a factor right now for the Flyers moving forward. If it doesn't work out the Flyers may be forced to make a move.

*Bryan McCabe to Montreal makes a lot of sense according to one "well placed" Montreal source.

*The Carolina Hurricanes are still hunting hard for a top 6 guy. The Canes have "never been more serious about trading multiple players for a big name" than they are right now.

*The assumption Bobby Ryan may be safe for now, due to the Boudreau hiring, is a fascinating one. Now that we know the Ducks had permission to talk to Boudreau days ago it is quite likely the Bobby Ryan talks were completely separate. I will say this much from what I know...Teams haven't let up at all in their efforts to attempt to snag the young star player.

*The Flames and Penguins have had talks...(not Iginla, but talks)

*Edmonton and Toronto continue to discuss a forward for D swap...

*Anaheim and Buffalo have talked a great deal over the past week. Much was made of the Ducks scouting the Sabres and Islanders...but I am told the Sabres aren't talking to Anaheim about Bobby Ryan, never have been "in on that one."

*The Leafs weren't ever in on Bobby Ryan and it is curious. Things can change of course as Burke and Murray have a great relationship.
