Wake Up & Rally!

There are very few things I would get up at 5:30 am and rush like a lunatic for. The first one is any vacation time in New Hampshire, the second is the NY Islanders.

The 8 am Rally & March is scheduled to take place in parking lot 8. In anticipation of a good crowd, I'm leaving my house by 7. We all know what morning traffic looks like here. Well, I want to see what it looks like THERE, you know.... in Uniondale where they are worried about traffic.

You want to see traffic? Go to Virginia. The congestion on the highways and sidestreets of VA make Long Island look like a Sunday drive. No one is stopping them from building.

The truth of the matter is that this is about more than hockey, more than Islanders hockey. It is about Long Island. We NEED the convention center. We NEED the Sports Technology center, we even NEED the five-star hotel. We need an identity.

Certainly Long Island is beautiful, but if you had to pick a landmark for it, would it be the Montauk Lighthouse? It's historic and wonderful and after 20 minutes, you're done with it and getting cocktails somewhere.

No, the Lighthouse Project will be a destination that defines Long Island and gets people off teh unemployment line.

Every blogger and their mother will be there today. Follow all the events on Twitter and throughout the net. I'll report back much later as I am going to try to sneak work in today somewhere. If I can figure out how to use my new phone, I may even have video later. But that is a huge "IF" with me. (I've had my new Alias 2 for less than two weeks. I'm already missing the simplicity of my little Amish phone. sigh.)

Okay! Brace for Impact! I'm ready to March! (And say "Hi to Josh Bailey and see how his summer is going.)

Have a great day guys, and email the ToH if you haven't yet!

Thank you for your support for the Islanders and for Nassau County.
