Just a quick hit here... So does the naming of Scott Gordon to the USA Hockey's Olympic team's coaching bench quiet down those who had complained about his hire by the NY Islanders last summer?

I was very happy for him when he was named Assistant for the USA Hockey team earlier this year. He made sure to let me know it WASN'T for the Olympic team.

Well, now it's official and the way I see it, it's quite an honor. (Of course, Point Blank has an excellent cell-phone Q&A posted this afternoon.)

Scott Gordon may not have come to the Islanders with NHL experience, but he came to them with great potential. I think we are all seeing that potential being fulfilled in small steps.

Congratulations Scott. If Torts gets out of hand with you, just let me know. He'll CERTAINLY understand the statements of getting whacked in the head with a wooden spoon.
