**With no Islanders news today, I headed to Bridgeport for a great day of AHL Hockey. Random thoughts at http://www.7thwoman.blogspot.com.
That was the perfect way to sum it up early this morning as the Islanders fell to the Kings by a single goal. One goal, one post game question for Scott Gordon from MSG’s Rob Carlin and it was about -- ONE in the morning.

If you couldn’t stay up to watch this one, you didn’t really miss much. It seemed a little chippy in the first period, although I’m not sure what happened between Sean Bergenheim and a crowd of Kings players. I saw Jeff Tambelllini in the pile too, but with the sound off, I had no idea what was going on. But after the commercial, Sean was in the box for tripping. The penalty killers managed to get through that one without any damage. But the Power Play unit didn’t come up with a goal either when they were given a chance with Modin in the box.

All it took was one giveaway by Jack Hillen to give the Kings their lone goal at 13:35 of the first. At the time, it didn’t seem so bad. Not a big deal, there was plenty of hockey left to play. But as time dwindled down, penalties were called, and shots were missed, it was evident this one wasn’t going to go their way.

The frustration was evident on Kyle Okposo who had nine total shots, 4 on goal, 3 blocked and 2 missed. John Tavares had the best chance to tie the game late in the third with Matt Moulson’s soon to be brother-in-law sprawled in the crease, but he couldn’t get the puck lifted just enough to skim over Quick and into the net.

Mark Streit, who it was said would play less time in Anaheim to save him for the Kings game, played 27:16 against the Ducks and 26:40 in LA. That’s not exactly “less time.” Freddy Meyer was impressive once again. He is truly playing to be noticed and it’s working.

Richard Park was the Face Off Specialist for the Islanders, but even his 14 wins and 6 losses couldn’t help the Isles get the puck enough to keep the pressure on Quick who ended with a shut out by stopping 26 Islanders shots.

Roloson only let one in out of the same 26, but he was also knocked in the head by Mark Streit as he was slammed into by a Kings’ player but the guys in stripes wasn’t watching that. Instead they called Dylan Reese for hooking on Kopitar. Roloson lay in his crease for a few minutes while being checked on by Islanders’ trainers. He got back up, shook it off, got his head realigned (literally) and continued the game. Let’s see if we get news of any lingering injury from that come Monday.

Reese is young and his inexperience is showing. How many games has he taken a penalty in the third period? Is there one so far that he didn’t? I still think he will develop into a nice surprise for the Islanders, but he could probably use some time in Bridgeport.

Speaking of Bridgeport -- I’m going! Finally! Since September I’ve said “I’ve got to get to a Sound Tigers game.” Yeah, well, it’s now MARCH and I’m finally getting there. My side-kick Wendy and I are leaving our families behind for our nine hour day of AHL hockey as we take that leisurely ride on the ferry, the short walk to the arena, and take in an AHL game. For the $29 rate given by the Bridgeport Ferry, how can you beat it? You can’t.
