12:18 pm: Well, I guess you can get a Bailey jersey and be certain you can wear it for a while. The Islanders and Josh Bailey have come to an agreement on a 5 year contract thus avoiding the arbitration table. $16.5 million deal with #Isles. Annual cap hit of $3.3m

Nice.

7 am: No, not the NJ Devils Foul with the Kovalchuk thing. That's bad enough, but I won't go into it. No, Sweaters. Jerseys. We all love them. We rush out to get the latest and most of the time pay through the nose for them. Hockey Jerseys are wearable art and then hide in the back of the closet for years. In this house, we have about 45 of them. I have lost count. But the funny thing is, we really only wear a handful of them.

THAT is why it is so dangerous to rush out and purchase (for a premium no less) a brand new jersey with the name of a prospect on it. Sure, it’s awesome to walk around the coliseum with an Okposo jersey during the second game he played pro. But what are you going to do now with that Niederreiter jersey? Exactly.

Do you dare to wear your Peca jersey at the Coliseum now? How about that Raffi Torres jersey you were so proud of oh-so-long ago? Well if you’re in the market for a new one, Cal Clutterbuck will be wearing 15, Regin will wear 16 and Bouchard will wear the highest number ever, 96.

I’m guessing that neither Clutterbuck or Regin really cared about the numbers or it’s a real big coincidence they are sequential. How many people will spend the money to mess around with CC’s name on a jersey? I’m thinking at least one. How many did it in Minnesota?

If you’re in the market for a new jersey, head down to the team store tonight where Andy MacDonald will be signing autographs beginning at 7 pm. This is his week for appearances, but it looks like this is the only really “public” one scheduled for him.

Is it October yet?

No, it’s July 15th and today is ‘supposed to be’ the day that Ed Mangano decides who will develop the hub. Will it be the Evil Dolan Empire or the Barclay’s group? Will there be Ranger logos where the Isles Stanley Cup Banners used to fly or will there be Isles related semi pro something?

Or will Mangano just procrastinate a little longer.
