Sat: 11:17 am: Waiting for Nabby News.

10:08 pm: The Isles added a few more goals in the third period. One by Jack Hillen and another empty netter for Michael Grabner. Grabner tried to let KO shoot into the empty netbut it was Grabner that put the game away.

Now it seems that Gerbe scored twice on Kevin Poulin in an amazing five second span. One of the fastest scoring streaks in the NHL. But it just wasn't enough.

Nate Lawson faced ten shots and Poulin faced 28 and gave up two. The blocked shot differential favored the Isles.

Now, Howie just mentioned that the Isles would be the next up to claim Nabokov off waivers tomorrow by Noon. So there are two questions. Would Nabby show up to play on the Island since he said he wanted to be a starter? The next two days should be very interesting.

9:14 pm: Nate Lawson did not return to the net for the second period. He will be evaluated tomorrow for a left knee injury. Garth Snow did NOT make the trip so don't be looking for him to suit up as Poulin's backup.

Kevin Poulin looked a little shakey at first but has come up big during the second. Howver, luck has also been on his side. Broken sticks and pucks off the post have helped along with diving defensemen making key plays.

Goal three scored by PA Parenteau was just beautiful. And I believe Howie or Butch said something about reaching a bonus plateau on his contract which was why he was so happy.

Rob Carlin spoke with Matt Moulson who said that one of the trainers had given him a lucky hat today to wear so he would score. It worked.

8:22 pm: Michael Grabner and Matt Moulson chased elite goalie Ryan Miller from the net after only giving up two goals. Mr. Miller was NOT happy.

Nate Lawson has been playing very well, even with a little scare that required the training to come and take a look at him. The Islanders PK has been on the money again so far as Colliton and Okposo both took penalties in the first period.

40 more minutes of hockey to see if the Islanders can again beat the Buffalo Sabres.

NYIFYI As expected, Nabokov is on waivers. Let the fun begin! #Isles #redwings #blues #sjsharks #blackhawks

Anyone else hate this part of the movie? o/

12:03 pm: The NY Islanders have announced that it will be Nathan Lawson facing the Buffalo Sabres and that Rob Schremp will most likely be back in the line-up.

It was announced this morning that Milan Jurcina has been placed on the IR retroactive to 1/17/11 and will be out 2 - 4 weeks with an upper body injury. Of course he will.

There has been no word yet out of Buffalo regarding tonight's game or starting line-up. Kevin Poulin, who originally was Tweeting his starts, has mysteriously stopped Tweeting altogether. Coincidence? I think not.

Regarding last night's information that the Islanders were looking into claiming Nabokov off waivers (prior to his signing a one year deal with Detroit), I know that put a lot of Isles fans into a tizzy thinking about the state of the net in Uniondale.

I attempted to ask the Islanders GM whether this is sending a message that they would be looking for a more veteran presence in net to back-up a healthy-sick-healthy-injured-healthy Rick DiPietro. While the CBA states that a GM cannot comment on other teams' players, I did receive this statement from Mr. Snow:

"But, as I’ve said in the past, we will look at every avenue to make our team better for both the short & long term."

I smell aquisition.
