In the system: Today the Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced that goaltender Kenny Reiter and defensemen Dallas Jackson and Mike Keenan have agreed to terms on AHL contracts for the 2013-14 season.

Reiter didn‘t fair well in the 12 games he saw action in the win category with the Tigers, but he had decent numbers in the ECHL with a 14-7-0 record.

Dallas Jackson, (what a grate name) returns to Bridgeport after splitting time between the Sound Tigers and the ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators last season.

Mike Keenan, (what a great hockey name) 24, inks his first pro contract with the Sound Tigers for the 2013-14 season. Another Mass native joins the fold. He played in five games with the Sound Tigers this past season after signing an amateur tryout contract (ATO) following his four-year collegiate career at Dartmouth College (ECAC).

Brian Burke has taken up the cause of wider NHL rinks, along with a defamation lawsuit against a message board. I applaud him for both. I only bring this up because The Globe & Mail mentioned that even Garth Snow was in favor of a wider rink and would have like to have one built should the Islanders had remained in Nassau and built a new facility. The Barclays Center cannot support a wider rink, although they also can’t support seats on one end of the damn ice. So…. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/06/01/brian-burke-time-for-nhl-think-bigger-rinks/4ME6jdOhCziVymEfnyL1zO/story.html

Okay, speaking of Garth Snow, if there are any of you who would like to ask him questions, you could have an opportunity to do so on Monday, June 10th at the Marriott in Uniondale at the final meeting this season of the New York Islanders Booster Club.

The membership fee is a small price to pay for the monthly meetings and guests they have during the season. If you are not currently a member and would like to check it out first, you can pay $5 at the door for the meeting.

But you may get hooked. The NYIBC does more than just show up and support the team. They do some great charity work and on Monday they will be collecting for the Oklahoma victims.

Check back at some of my previous posts of Garth Snow’s Q&A sessions at these meetings. This is the only time you will be able to speak with him without Stan Fischler asking all the questions.
