Gustav Olofsson has signed a two year deal worth 1.45 million, 675,000 this coming season and 775,000 in 2018-19 season.

Also qualifying offers were made to Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter, Mike Reilly, Kurtis Gabriel, Zack Mitchell, Zach Palmquist, and Steve Michalek.

Noticebly absent from the qualifying offers, is Christian Folin, who will become an unrestricted free agent. Fletcher would have liked to have Folin back, but on a two way deal. The Wild did not offer Folin a QO as Folin would have filed for arbitration and most certainly would have been awarded a one way deal.

Olofsson will be competing for a fulltime role this season and could be a key player for the Wild if they do in fact move one of their highly sought after defensemen.

Chuck Fletcher will be busy as the free agent season opens up on Saturday. The need for a backup goaltender that can ease the load on Devan Dubnyk is his on the priority list and it is a buyers market for goalies this year in particular.

A trade is not out of the question either and we know that Fletcher has fielded many calls concerning his talented stable of defensemen. Adding a scorer is high on the priority list as well, but the right deal involving one of these defenseman is imperative for Fletcher.

Joel Eriksson Ek will be taking over Erik Haula's place in the Wild lineup, but he can't be the only fresh face making the team this coming season. Young blood keeps the older players hungry and earning their place in the lineup.

Luke Kunin, the Wild's 2016 1st round pick will have every opportunity to make the team this season and Jordan Greenway should get a very good look as well.
