Last Night Was Bound to Happen

A lot can be read into every game win or lose, but in the end each game is in itself just one of eighty two. The Wild had lost just one of their nineteen in regulation including some very impressive wins against some of the league's best teams, with many coming in enemy buildings. So the fact the Wild lost to the Devils last night is just another game, exactly like a win over a top team is just one game.

The best teams compartmentalize each game and treat it as such. Learning from each experience along the way is what separates the successful teams from the pretenders.

A clunker was bound to happen for the Wild as the law of averages does catch up to everyone. There were wins along the way in which the Wild did not have their best game and really did not necessarily deserve to win and there are going to be lapses that end up being losses along the way.

A lot can be made that the Wild have lost to a number of the bottom teams in the league and that is true. But the fact is they are playing great hockey and their record against the top teams is absolutely amazing. Oh and by the way, only the good teams make the playoffs so when the wins really matter, the Wild will be playing top teams, not bottom feeders.

As I have said all along, try not to make too much of any win or any loss. What we want to see is the Wild limit the valleys to a game or two and not let prolonged slumps materialize.

Last night was a double wammy as Jonas Brodin is lost for a month with a broken finger.
